History

Established in 1969, Sreebhumi Sporting Club has evolved into Kolkata's biggest crowd-puller. Founded by political leader Sujit Bose, the puja is renowned for its mega-budget, hyper-realistic architectural replicas. Over the years, they have famously recreated the Burj Khalifa, the Vatican City, and the Ayodhya Ram Mandir. Sreebhumi is also notable for adorning its Goddess Durga idols with authentic, heavy gold and diamond jewelry, pushing the boundaries of sheer spectacle and scale.

Nearing a century of celebrations, Bagbazar Sarbojanin is the cornerstone of Kolkata's traditional Durga Puja. Historically, it played a major role in the Indian freedom struggle, using the festival as a cover to organize nationalist meetings.
